About
Back in 1997, I flew out of the U.S. for the first time without parental consent and landed in London—the ultimate destination for a ’77 punk fanatic. Within eight hours of my arrival, I ditched my friends, hopped on the Tube, got lost, and harassed a Camden Town wino for directions to the Dublin Castle—all because I had come across a tiny one-line show listing for “The Drones” in that week’s Time Out. For all I knew, this Drones could’ve been a ragtag trio blowing on wine jugs, but luckily for me, they were indeed the “Sad So Sad” Mancunian punks, albeit 20 years older. And so began an eye-opening but expensive habit.Coincidentally, just a year earlier, I had started editing for an independent publisher that specialized in travel books. Eleven years, nine multiday punk festivals, over a dozen international shows, hundreds of travel guides, and a gajillion record stores later, JetLag RocknRoll was born. Although no single travel guide will ever accommodate any one person’s needs entirely, JLRNR strives to indulge everyone who’s ever planned their travel itinerary around shows they wanted to see. Finally!
If you have suggestions, comments, and/or extra 7” spiders (you know, those plastic yellow things), give me a holler—I’d love to hear from you. I'm also looking for courageous correspondents from around the world who don’t mind out-of-towners picking through their favorite used record bins.
Deliriously yours,
